With a company name that is a mash-up of two iconic and inspiring ladies – Marilyn Monroe and Danielle Steers, and formed in 2018, Monsteers Artistry is a talent agency as well as a theatre company with mini events that aims to support actors during their “down-periods” between acting jobs.
Monsteers Artistry says:
it can be extremely disheartening going from a leading or ensemble/supporting role in theatre or film and having to go back to a 9 to 5 or another kind of job that your heart isn’t in.
This is why Monsteers was formed: to help actors achieve their goals and dreams.
Once Monsteers added the events side to the company, this gave them the creative license to write their own shows, which the actors listed in their talent agency could be a part of.
As a company dedicated to helping others, Monsteers said that their aim is “to get people as excited about theatre as we are”. They are also dedicated to changing people’s attitudes towards theatre, by removing the perception that theatre is only for the elite, and they want to see more affordable theatre presented.
On 8th May 2019, Monsteers is presenting their first professional concert piece at the Museum of Comedy with a handful of West End stars: Georgia Carling, Ben Purkiss, and Patrick Sullivan. As well as this, Monsteers is also producing a 90-minute musical theatre concert (date to be announced) , an entire company showcase on 31st July, and an original musical playing at The Other Palace on 2nd & 7th September.
The Feeling, playing at The Other Palace, is a new musical written by Kyra J Willis. The show is focuses on friendship and explores how these relationships are not always what they seem. “It looks at manipulations and rivalries among friends. There is a lot of comedy & romance…but it also looks at how sometimes being in the wrong crowd can be lonelier than if you were alone.”
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, make sure to check it out!
The cast for this production is Sarah Dorsett, Sean Erwood, Pippa Lea, Christine Maia, PJ Tomlinson and Kyra J Willis, with Tom Bradey of Live Lounge Sessions acting as the promoter of the event.
Making this company unique is the people behind it. All the cast and creatives have a connection and chemistry that gives the company endless possibilities.
Monsteers Artistry also has lots of projects in the next three years so watch this space. Hopefully in a year’s time, Monsteers will have all their actors working on full time projects and will have made a positive name for themselves in the theatre industry.
